Intoductory Paragraph

Class, race, sexuality, gender and all other categories by which we categorize and dismiss each other need to be excavated from the inside. -Dorothy Allison
To me, this basically means you choose what gender you are inside of you. Just because you might be a male on the outside, you can feel and be female on the inside.
I agree with this because, who says someone else chooses your gender. You can clearly be born in the wrong body. Being born as a female but feeling and having a male mentality. It's not fair. It's you who chooses who you are.
This is clearly seen in Almost Perfect.
Sage was born a male. Once his sister was born he began to wonder why he couldn't wear dresses and play with dolls like her. It's what he wanted, yet they wouldn't allow it. Once he reached age 10 he came out and said he wanted to be a girl. Started wearing dresses, as well as taking hormonal pills to where he began forming female parts. Until the point Sage became the she, she always wanted to be.

CARD #10

As I was sitting with Nial, Yeretzy, and Josh I had an instant flashback. Flashback to when everything seemed perfect. We were so happy. It was May 10th, 2010, we were in Paris, France. We were young and just wanted to have fun. Get away from "the real world." No one knew we had left. We just packed our bags and left.
As we landed in France we soon regretted it. Why did we do this. What were we thinking. What have we gotten ourselves into. We didn't know what to do or where to go. It was so confusing. We were scared, after all we were only 16. What more did we know to be in a whole new country like that.
We just blew it off and did our thing. Cause ya' know, YOLO.
We walked around for a while to just get the feel of this new place. As we felt more comfortable we asked someone where we should go and eat. We asked for French fries. They gave us an odd look. I mean, doesn't the French make them? I guess not. They called it chips. We ate for a while until the sun went down.
We walked some more as our feet began to ache, that's when we just called it a day and went to our hotel.
The next morning it was time to have fun again. First stop, Eiffel Tower. Now that was when the fun began. After taking A million "#SELFIES" we climbed it. Our legs were extremely sore it soon began to feel like jello. It was totally worth it though.
We got down grabbed a bite then walked around looking at all the tourist sites. We stumbled upon a a pet store. Nial bought me a dog. It wasn't just any dog, it was a husky. Not just any husky, it was a husky from France. Now how cool is that. I had a french dog ya'll
The smallest things there seemed to be so cool to us. The food, statues, buildings it was all so fascinating. We will deffinitley plan a trip back there.

I Am...

I Am Logan Witherspoon

I am confused and sad
I wonder why she cheated on me
I hear them telling me to move on
I see her walk by without looking at me
I want her back
I am confused and sad

I pretend I'm fine and over her
I feel alone and unloved
I touch my lips as she used to kiss me there
I worry if I will never get her back
I cry when I'm alone
I am confused and sad

I understand she's moved on already
I say I have too
I dream we could be together again
I try to get her back
I hope to be with her again
I am confused and sad

Overview

In the book Almost Perfect, Logan Witherspoon recently finds out that his girlfriend of 3 years cheats on him.
My theme was "gender", I chose this book because it relates to my theme very well due to the fact that there is a transgender character in here. Gender is about who you are. If you feel inside that you are truly a boy or girl.
I predict that the character will soon finally come out of the closet and reveal their big secret. I also predict people won't take it very well. The town this book takes place is in extremely small and to have someone who is a transgender must be very shocking for them.

Hero

"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." -Christopher Reeve

A hero is, a person, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. This quote talks about how a person can find their hidden strength and potential within themselves. The person can express themselves in many ways to not just help people but to show people what the person is made of. No matter what the person can have such hidden potential than many other people in the world.

I agree with this quote because I agree that there are heroes out there with hidden potential.

Through my life, I have encountered a hero. No matter what I went through I had my mom as my hero, she has always been there for me no matter what. Yes, we may argue but she's always there. She was there when I needed her most. No matter what my mom will always be my hero.
